Wall Quotes

As has been shared many times, our family is very aware of how influential having God’s Word put before our very eyes, wherever we may be to influence how we see.  Whether it be your Smartphone, computer screen, a wall/desk decoration or something being shared with someone via some form of Social Media, each of us had a Guard in place to remind us of Who’s we are.  That Guard being spoken of is God’s Holy Word, which we seek to have ever before us.

Driving Concept

There is a distinct advantage that Old Testament Jews have that we have seemingly missed in Christianity or maybe more accurate to say it just didn’t make it over in the translation.  The printed Word of God was VERY precious to them, so much so that they would “hide” in places that were obvious as to appreciate it.  Indeed they were small pieces in comparison to the entire Book we have preserved for us in this day and time. One of the best reminders of this thought of hiding His Word in our hearts is from Psalm 119:

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Psalm 119:11 | King James Version

Another way of looking at the matter is found in I Peter 3:

But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
I Peter 3:4 | King James Version

No Christian will be successful at keeping God the Father FIRST and be ever willing to serve their Saviour UNLESS a true Hope is found in the Word of God.  How can that statement be made so boldly? Simple, we must first recognize His Book is His Word, His Spoken Breath –  the VERY Breathed Word from Him.  That Word speaks to us by aid of the Holy Spirit – we have to learn to be hid in it and depend on it as His Shield for us.

Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.
Psalm 119:114 | King James Version

In this day, we have seen a lessening of biblical influence of a true nature and even the removal of time honored display of God’s Word due to an ever more secularization and removal of the landmarks of our heritage. We can do one thing that will change how we engage others for the Cause of Christ and the Effect of Eternity – we can bring them into our homes.  We can create the conversation starter within our families, friends, neighbors, co-workers, those that come to visit with us – letting them know… like Joshua of old told them…

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
Joshua 24:15 | King James Version

Conversation Starter

How can we start the conversation then?  My workplace is definitely NOT a religious based organization, but within the confines of my office there are more than 160 items in my gallery of prints hanging which have been a draw for nearly 15 years now.  Folks know they can come to my office to talk, share, pray and see what is new going on with me, my family, the DeliverTheWord.com Ministry or whatever struggle/matter needs to be.  One of the best ways to do that is give them something to see.

For instance, my tagline in the e-mail from my office has the following quote in it:

The giant oak is just an acorn that held its ground. – Mark Gilroy

A rather simple invitation that goes out in every e-mail that leaves my desk – it has been there for years now – nearly fifteen now. Not everything has to be a Bible verse to get then conversation flowing – Mark’s statement is not a religious one per se, but most get the fact that it is going to be in a very short period of time – which generally comes up without my even having to mention it.  My manner of taking care of that is this – they get to know me through either correspondence, on the phone, or some combination of the two generally – providing a boundary setting which is then pulled together when they meet me at one of our company functions.

Part of my job is to generally send announcements, seminar information, save the date cards, invites, correspondence from the company I work for – so my name is on most things circling around to a very wide cast net of folks with an even wider circulation within those individual companies receiving the initial information being sent. That same quote listed above is the hook, which works well – it is my conversation starter.

In the very near future it is my desire and sincere hope to present a NEW tool through DeliverTheWord.com which will aid it allowing others to have a conversation starter to place upon their own walls by means of being a way to get the conversation started about what Christ means to each of us and sharing our Faith with others.
