Far from being her first poem, this one is what started putting them to images to make them keepsakes… This one an INCREDIBLE keepsake for her Dad, written in an unmistakable manner, for such a time as would prove to a family that timing is indeed controlled and orchestrated by the Heavenly Father – which became REAL to each of us on Thursday, March 20, 2008!

The Poem

Two Roads

There are roads that go up and roads that go down.
You will see a road everywhere you go in town.
But there are two roads in life that you will embrace.
One will take you to see your Lord face to face.
The other is quite hard to say is dark, and scary is the way.

But the road that is lit with light
will stay that way day or night.
You may stumble and fall, but that is all right.
Day or night there will be angels to pick you up
and put you back on your feet.
They will make sure the Lord you do meet.

When you walk down that golden road it will be a site.
Pearl gates sparkling in the light.
Jesus will greet you and may give you a bear hug.
You may even stand on a velveteen rug.

So pick the right road and walk on it well.
I wish you good journey, I wish you would tell.
There are two roads everywhere you go.

The Story

Just where does one start when it comes to giving a best attempt to explain something that is orchestrated so perfectly that there is NO way in this world in which you could EXPLAIN it? This may take a while… The following scripture is just a “starting point” which goes a long way in the direction of how AWESOME and MAJESTIC our Lord Jesus Christ truly IS:

Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55:6-9 | KJV

While attending Pastor’s School in Hammond, Indiana with the Pastoral staff of our church, for which there were SO many areas of change for me – that this page could NOT possibly hold – came change. A series of events would forever change our families “idea” or “view” of God’s thoughts and ways, for which timing was the key to understanding the significance of happened. Simply put, Courtney wrote this poem for her Dad while the Holy Spirit was working on his heart, then called at the “exact” moment a commitment was being consecrated before the Lord with his Pastor leaving the poem on his voice-mail for him to hear. An excitement was fostered by all those involved knowing that God knew and He orchestrated the “show me” of a lifetime, which this poem serves as the reminder of the great things He has done.

Those who have gotten this poem have each had profound impacts made in their lives and those around them. The very first recipient outside of the immediate family was Courtney’s first grade teacher Ms. Lilly. The background image used for this print is an Asiatic Lily, which dressed the poem in such a way that it grabs the attention and draws those into the contents of it – the poem itself. It has been special to see each reaction, which has been similar to Ms. Lilly’s, with memories of their own making it evermore special to them as they learn the how’s, when’s, where’s, what’s and who’s the poem has been written.
