Thoughts

This Series originally started with a different direction, but proved to be a well adapted set of “Fifteen Reasons to Read the Bible Daily”.  From the very beginning the intrigue of the “Reasons” turned into being able to “See God’s Heart” in His Word, the Bible. A lyric popped up in my head that is not “Christian” in origin, but was catchy which captured closer my thoughts on the Series: “I Can See Clearly Now the Rain is Gone…”

With that coming to mind, a careful review of the items shared caused a shift in thought to being able to “See” how the Word of God changes lives.

Fifteen Considerations

1. To Be Rid of Anxiety and Have Peace (Psalm 119:165)
2. To Set Things Right When Life is Out of Control (Psalm 19:7-8)
3. To Have Direction and Know God’s Will (Psalm 119:105)
4. To Experience Healing and Deliverance (Psalm 107:20)
5. To Grow in the Lord (I Peter 2:2-3)
6. To Have Strength, Comfort and Hope (Psalm 119:28, 50, 114)
7. To Shape Yourself and Your Life Correctly (Psalm 119:11)
8. To Be Able to See Clearly (Psalm 119:130)
9. To Know What’s Really in Your Heart (Hebrews 4:12)
10. To Build Faith (Romans 10:17)
11. To Have Joy (Psalm 16:11)
12. To Understand God’s Power (John 1:3)
13. To Have More Life in This Life (Psalm 119:50)
14. To Distinguish Good From Evil (Psalm 119:101-102)
15. To Understand God’s Love for You (John 1:14)

Seven (7) of those fifteen (15) considerations for this Series contain passages from Psalm 119.  Five (5) of those considerations are found in the New Testament: I Peter, Hebrews, Romans, and John two (2) times.  The significant discovery about these references is that the OT we core beliefs, in which to build upon, whereas the NT references talk about how to Live.

The words to the song by Jimmy Cliff are provided below.

Jimmy Cliff | Lyrics – “I Can See Clearly Now”

I can see clearly now the rain is gone.
I can see all obstacles in my way.
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind.
It’s gonna be a bright (bright)
bright (bright) sunshiny day.
It’s gonna be a bright (bright)
bright (bright) sunshiny day.

Oh, yes I can make it now the pain is gone.
All of the bad feelings have disappeared.
Here is that rainbow I’ve been praying for.
It’s gonna be a bright (bright)
bright (bright) sunshiny day.

(ooh…) Look all around, there’s nothing but blue skies.
Look straight ahead, there’s nothing but blue skies.

I can see clearly now the rain is gone.
I can see all obstacles in my way.
Here is that rainbow I’ve been praying for.
It’s gonna be a bright (bright)
bright (bright) sunshiny day.
It’s gonna be a bright (bright)
bright (bright) sunshiny day.
It’s going to be a bright (bright)
bright (bright) sunshiny day.
Yeah, hey, it’s gonna be a bright (bright) bright (bright)
sunshiny day.
