Words are a powerful communication tool if used in the correct manner, but they can also be used in a manner unintended – with infliction never considered by the speaker or originator! Sometimes those words are judging yardstick as in “A man is only as good as his word…” Those times what have happened in the past are used to gauge how one considers things he will carry through in the matter at hand.
The initial challenge for this two image Series is the sermon preached by a man whom I dearly love and have much admiration for – much because of the time that I’ve had to see him through his words, actions and handling of God’s Word – the Bible. Preacher Cox has taught me much about being steady, sticking by the stuff and being ready. Much of my learning about prayer has been directly influenced by his example – you could say “his living and speaking words of the Word” have shown through the Promises of God.
So when running across a “wordy” situation in two panels of overflowing “words” it became VERY clear to me that we have a choice – both you and I… We can see the stream of words that are thrown at us from the world at every turn and twist or we can rely on God’s Word (note the singular here) to help us with the navigation of each situation we find ourselves in each moment of the day. YES – I am saying that we can look to God’s Word for direction for our challenges – each and EVERY one of them!
Right now, tomorrow if Jesus tarries and FOREVER – we can count on God’s Holy Word to remain TRUE! Is there something welling up inside of you that wants to shout? The presence of the Holy Spirit speaks to us in a small quiet voice, but the outward showing of it for me is JOYOUS! Maybe that Word hasn’t soaked into every facet of your life yet such that you may understand what Jesus Christ has Saved you from, or it may have been some time since you’ve sought Him that maybe His Touch is slightly foreign to you…
Consider two things along with me – two things that should Encourage us and every person who even comes within earshot of us: first, God sent us Redemption – each of us and second, God gives us Understanding through His Commandments – both of which are shown and promised in God’s Word, the Bible.
The two verses from the Scriptures are shared on this page for us to review and be reminded of as each of us try to cut through the ever consuming and constant barrage of things that come at us at an epic rate – these two verses are from the same chapter of Psalms – chapter 111, verses 9 and 10.
The first is about redemption, the Promise that God made by a covenant unto His People…
He Sent Redemption
“He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.”
Psalm 111:9 | King James Version
The second follows the first in that it gives us the steps of how to have a good understanding, Wisdom, because they that do – do His Commandments…
The Fear of the LORD
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.”
Psalm 111:10 | King James Version
Each of the prints have a sea of words in the background which each of us can most likely identify with in many different manners and ways, but we have an opportunity to “see” through them when we take a look at God’s Word – even as it may appear only to be two “little verses” – which will give us the reminder of the promises in which the rest of the Bible holds for His Children. I am VERY thankful to be a Child of the King!
