Each of the selected Scripture verses have been taken from the King James Version Bible from an in depth Bible study on the words that make up the phrase “Light of the World”  The word “light” is used some 297 times in the Bible, with 198 of them found in the Old Testament and just 99 of them found in the New Testament.  Interestingly enough the first use of the word “light is found in Genesis 1:3 and for a final time in Revelation 22:5, covering the entire Bible as in a ribbon found in God’s Holy Word.  In 50 books of the Bible, one can find reference to the word “light”.  The following are the Scripture verses listed in order as they are used for the cards.

  1. Cannot Be Hid: “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16 | KJV
  2. My Light and My Salvation: “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1 | KJV
  3. Thy Light and Thy Truth: “O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.” Psalm 43:3 | KJV
  4. Know the Joyful Sound: “Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.” Psalm 89:15 | KJV
  5. Unto the Upright: “Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.” Psalm 112:4 | KJV

  7. Feareth the LORD: “Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God.” Isaiah 50:10 | KJV
  8. He that Doeth Truth: “For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.” John 3:20-21 | KJV

  10. I Must Work the Works of Him: “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” John 9:4-5 | KJV
  11. Whosoever Believeth on Me: “Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me. I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.” John 12:44-46 | KJV
  12. To Open Their Eyes and Turn Them: “To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. ” Acts 26:18 | KJV
  13. Let Us Therefore Cast Off: “The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.   14.   15. The Knowledge of the Glory of God: “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. ” II Corinthians 4:6 | KJV
  16. Walk As Children of Light: “For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.” Ephesians 5:8-10 | KJV
  17. All Things That Are Reproved: “But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.” Ephesians 5:13-14 | KJV

King of Kings & Lord of Lords: “Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting.   20. Shew Forth the Praises of Him: “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.” I Peter 2:9-10 | KJV

A More Sure Word Shineth in a Dark Place: “We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
