The Reason for the Season

Many of you may find this odd and funny at the same time… Trying to decide which of these images to put up was DIFFICULT!!! Of the handful of folks that have seen them, the exact SAME challenge existed – so I feel MUCH better!!! Will just put the “last” one in hopes that you will want to see the “first” one. There are nine (9) of these images to this particular set, which is the FIRST ready to order set for DeliverTheWord.com.

One may be able to tell that someone likes Christmas Trees and Glass Ornaments – I do very much so! Consider taking a look – remember any of the images in the set can be e-mailed to anyone for NO COST, two different sizes can be downloaded for FREE and you can even SEND an entire page to anyone you like – all built right into the page for each image.

Really do LIKE the “Likes”, but it is those “Shares” that makes the effort placed in the design of these Series be worthwhile. God the Father gave us His Word to share, let’s together do all we can to do just that! This Year let everyone know:

The Reason for the Season!

Holiday Collection Christmas 2012 | Series Three

Etiquette

This thought-provoking Series has taken some time to build, research and “get a good handle on” – for a good ole Southern explanation… Most of the time, as it seems in the “modern age”, when the word “Etiquette” is mentioned, my mind at least goes right to formality and minding one’s manners. Generally that comes with the concept of not wanting to embarrass the host of whatever event or special occasion we may be in attendance. Being more refined and proper, even if for a mere little time, can remind us of the kindness and thought we should show others for such times as those.

Would it not stand to reason (troubling word sometimes) that it would be easier and a WHOLE lot simpler if we had those manners all the time, it certainly would take off the pressure of remembering which fork, spoon, knife, plate, cup, napkin and such to use for that “special” dinner would it not? That is the driving intent of this Series, for us to consider God’s Word as it is the written Life & Situation Book for us to have the “Manner’s Guide” so to speak right in our very hands.

Amazing what this set of “Written” Word gives us in how we should not only strive to live peaceably our Creator God, but also with man. Personally am thrilled that they are “Written” down for the ages, so we would know how we are supposed to be as Christians, whether that be positionally, by declaration or any host of other manners. You “may” have to be careful in going through this site – the Holy Spirit may move you off the board in which you may be seated upon… this is a Revival Series – God’s Word WILL CHANGE US, but we have to be WILLING!

EVERYONE NEEDS to go to the site to get all 15 words and the verses that match up to them:

Be of Good Courage

Courage is not only a mindset, but it should be a “heartset” consideration for each of us. In preparing this Series, a very specific person came to mind, which the Holy Spirit prompted me to follow through to remind them to “Be of Good Courage” right in the middle of their situation of heartache. I’ve learned not to “wrangle” with the prompting, although it would have to be admitted that sometimes a distraction can make way of a stray…

Most often courage is associated with struggle, bravery, difficulties and suffering. Found one definition of courage to be “obsolete”, which states that: “Obsolete . the heart as the source of emotion.”

Each of us of course respond to our daily challenges in different ways, whether in response to a belief that is challenged or a conviction which we are faced with defending because of ridicule and criticism. The world would have us believe that we have to “do” this thing or that to increase our “ability” to face those things that beset us… While those things appear to be “good” on the onset, there is likely a problem area we need to examine in ourselves a little closer to us than we may consider – TRUST.

Trusting is a multifaceted act which is built over time in order to better and more fully understand. It is something that we can demonstrate to others, even without saying a word – giving credence to the cliché “actions speak louder than words.” Trusting can also be seen in our speaking, how we convey dissatisfaction or even satisfaction on a matter that controversial or in support of the Word of God.

We can also strengthen others, provide solidarity and resolve by keeping our hope in the Lord and waiting for His answer, realizing it is His to answer to begin with, for His ability is not plagued with our weaknesses. Rather, He is where our strength originates. It is interesting that the purest use of the word “courage” would almost be untraceable if it we were to not look it up in the Old Testament – which is where all seven (7) of the verses originate for this Series.

Surely we as Christians would want to “Be of Good Courage” to all those around us, for He promises to strengthen our own hearts and has given us the Hope of all generations. Speak of Him as “My God”, “My Redeemer”, My Good Courage” noticing that change in us as we seek to serve Him!

Mrs. Nancy McIntyre Cook – you know this ONE was built for YOU!!!

Know, Love, Fear & Obey

A fantastic set of four prints taken from a sermon preached by one of our own of Beacon Baptist Church the Summer of 2008 – Reverend Kenny Cousar.  Bro. Kenny is the son of Mr. Don and Ms. Vicki Cousar, who helped us “surprise” Bro. Kenny with these prints a short time after they were designed.

Bro. Kenny is dynamic Preacher of the Word of God, for which this series was no less dynamic than he is, covering his title: “Shining and Shouting: What Is It That Brings You To Your Feet?”  Bro. Kenny had four words which helped us grasp what the Lord had lain upon his heart to preach that night which included the following:

Know – Glory of God – the Fact We Know Him…
Love – We Must Love Him with ALL of Everything…
Fear – We Ought to Lower Ourselves to Him…
Obey – Doing what He asks of and Enables You…

These words were points distinctively taken from his launching verses from Jeremiah 9:23-24:

“Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.”
Jeremiah 9:24 | King James Version

As distinct as he started, Bro. Kenny towed the line and delivered it right down the middle of the path – there was not a soul in that auditorium that the Holy Spirit missed challenging, the least of which was me…  This set of prints hangs in multiple places and has been gifted to a number of folks, while sharing the difference it made in our lives for having been exposed to it, by one who was FILLED that night to Preach the Word!

What, or where rather, do you get filled with the Holy Spirit — to the point where you’d stand up and SHOUT?!

Series Showcase | Talents Through Writing

Website | http://delivertheword.com/talentsthroughwriting

Talents Through Writing is a “different kind of Series” than the standard Website developed for DeliverTheWord.com. A creative outlet is just that place where all the stuff goes when one is not sure where it is supposed to go, or is it?  In this case, we are talking about the Ever Creative Mind (ECM) of a teenager that writes all kinds of things that are just as creative and thought provoking as her ever increasing sense of humor.  Wonder where she gets that from???  We may never know…  There are a few people who would challenge the notion of the “where”…

Paying attention to what is going around us, with a listening ear for what the Holy Spirit will Whisper to us requires us to both hear and see. Rarely can I recall that the call to duty was a screamer, most often in my experience it has been when a still moment of paying attention and all being cleared off of my “agenda”, when the Whisper comes. No doubt what caught my attention with this poem is the factor life is made up of Whispers indeed, if only you and I would listen for them. To realize those in need are right in front of our very eyes takes time spent with the Father in prayer, reading His Word and putting forth the desire and action to Serve our Risen Saviour.

1024×768 (SVGA/XGA) | 1280×1024 (SXGA) | e-Courage

We have been entrusted with many talents each, an ability in which God the Father has a purpose, to be used to point to Him.  The Lord was about His Father’s business, while He was here, how the much more we should be.  As our example, Christ over and over again has taught how to do so and as our Saviour had made that way possible for us to DO so.  Not an “almost”, but that we would persuade others to the Loving, Merciful and Complete knowledge of the Son of God came to Save us one and all.

While each of these works may not quote a verse of Scripture, we can see the working of the Holy Spirit in the lives that they touch, as Melissa and I have in our daughter.  So can you join us, as we seek to share with a lost and dying world, that while things can appear to be void of what they are chasing after, we continue to Seek for the Master – and we KNOW He is Waiting…

The Beginning…

The first poems and limericks came a number of years ago, but the first one set to an image is “Two Roads”, which is the one that set the passion into gear on March 20, 2008.  Many poems have followed, which is what will make the “Talents Through Writing” Series different, because it will continue to grow with each poem set to photo or graphics compliment to be shared with everyone who needs to be Encouraged.

The Story of Two Roads…

Just where does one start when it comes to giving a best attempt to explain something that is orchestrated so perfectly that there is NO way in this world in which you could EXPLAIN it? This may take a while… The following scripture is just a “starting point” which goes a long way in the direction of how AWESOME and MAJESTIC our Lord Jesus Christ truly IS:

“Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.“
Isaiah 55:6-9 | King James Version

While attending Pastor’s School in Hammond, Indiana with the Pastoral staff of our church, for which there were SO many areas of change for me – that this page could NOT possibly hold – came change. A series of events would forever change our families “idea” or “view” of God’s thoughts and ways, for which timing was the key to understanding the significance of happened. Simply put, Courtney wrote this poem for her Dad while the Holy Spirit was working on his heart, then called at the “exact” moment a commitment was being consecrated before the Lord with his Pastor leaving the poem on his voice-mail for him to hear. An excitement was fostered by all those involved knowing that God knew and He orchestrated the “show me” of a lifetime, which this poem serves as the reminder of the great things He has done.

The Return…

Courtney has hand picked who has gotten a copy of the print for the most part – the first being Ms. Patti Lilly, her first grade teacher at Raleigh Christian Academy.  Ms. Lilly cried when she received it, giving Courtney a hug, long hug – letting her know how special it was because it was designed with a “Lily” in the print which would be a reminder to her of Courtney.  Nearly everyone who has seen it, especially those special people who have one hanging on the wall of their home, say she has a way with words that beyond that of her age.  Everyone who has the opportunity to read it has shared a blessing the are reminded of while doing so – no one leaves the same as they came for the first time they read it…

The Focus…

Each of the prints designed have a thought provoking and often serious tone to them, which makes it all the more difficult to find just the right design, photos and presentation to capture the essence of what it is to assist in conveying.  An example would be “Precious Is”, the sixth print in the ribbon following the Dedication section.  The discussion was challenging, with the poem coming to me in a couple of hours, with a “here Daddy, now make it look pretty” – somewhere in there was a “DON’T CHANGE ANYTHING!”.  It took me six (6) hours to find just the right combination of elements, typefaces and color choices to produce the eye catching design – which carries a MOST powerful message.

Dedication

This set of prints is dedicated to Dr. Randy & Ms. JoAnne Cox at Beacon Baptist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. Ms. MaryJo, Preacher Cox’s first wife who went home to be with the Lord several years back, was very fond of Courtney, as was Ms. MaryJo VERY special to Courtney.  Just days before Ms. MaryJo passed, Courtney wanted to go see her but was afraid to do so because of the knowing time was short.  We took another framed print of “Two Roads” to the hospital with us, stayed for a while, talking and praying – then Courtney wrote one of the sweetest notes anyone could even imagine telling of her love for her to the family.

Several times since then, Preacher Cox has always gotten a bear hug from Courtney as he has told her how proud Ms. MaryJo would be of her.  Added to that blessing is Ms. JoAnne who from the very first time meeting Courtney told her that she must be the “special young lady” that “Randy” (I’d NEVER call him that…) had spoken of and the one who wrote that beautiful poem! It hangs in their home today, as it hung there for several years before.

Words cannot express the influence Preacher Cox has been to me, especially over the past four years and a few months. His dedication to our church, our Pastor, our Saturday Night Men’s Prayer Time – all follow-through times – has been an Encouragement that moves, one that shares, one that cares…

What talents, gifts and abilities are we as Believers using for the Cause of Christ? This Series will continue to grow and the talents of at least two people will continue to grow in the Lord – my daughter and her dad.

Series Spotlight | Know, Love, Fear & Obey

Website | http://delivertheword.com/knowlovefearobey

This Series brings back one of the most dynamic and convicting sermons I’ve ever been blessed to hear!  Bro. Kenny Cousar, son of Bro. Don and Ms. Vicki Cousar, asked the congregation a question that could only make you sit on the edge of your seat for you were preparing to STAND UP.  We got an introduction to a four word challenge which is the following:

KNOW | LOVE | FEAR | OBEY

The question he asked us:

“What Is It That Brings You to Your Feet?”

We cheer at games, races and events – why NOT for four of the most thought provoking statements known to mankind:

  1. Glory of God – the Fact We Know Him…
  2. We Must Love Him with ALL of Everything…
  3. We Ought to Lower Ourselves to Him…
  4. Doing what He asks of and Enables You…

The following is the first of the four images – which should read for us: KNOW – Glory of God – the Fact We Know Him…

Presenting the four (4) images in this series in order: Know, Love, Fear & Obey. There is nothing “subtle” about this set of prints or the images which were selected to make them up. They serve as a constant reminder to me especially, because one set (of several) is installed right above my computer which remind me daily in my office of the “Truth” preached to us by Rev. Kenny Cousar!

1024×768 (SVGA/XGA) | 1280×1024 (SXGA) | e-Courage

The verse of Scripture which these points and challenges were drawn:

“Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.”
Jeremiah 9:23-24 | King James Version

All four of the prints are shown in the following ribbon so they can be seen in order.  A very visual means of seeing what the LORD delights!  Have someone in mind who would be Encouraged by Knowing that God Loves them too?  I do – going to send that person an e-Courage card right now matter a fact!

This set of four prints sits right above my desk in the office printed on Kodak Endura Metals Silver (only can be lab processed) – each of them “glisten” and have incredible depth, as well as color.  You may ask yourself why would that be done? Simple – to be a reminder EVERY day when entering my office of the correct process and order to submit.

Series Spotlight | Be of Good Courage

Website | http://delivertheword.com/beofgoodcourage

Right in the middle of a Bible study is where some of my best nuggets are discovered, which is how this one came about.  After finishing up the Bible study that prompted this one, decided to venture into it to see where the word “courage” would lead.  A constant was “be of” or “be of a”, then the word “good”.  As is often the case, the digging got GOOD fast!  Didn’t even have to guess which photos would be used for this Series – I’d just taken them “in the rain” at one of the rose gardens in here in town.  An immediate person came to mind and a prompting – just as clear as any every heard – there is a special person who needs this…

For a few minutes, thought about going to bed, but there it was again – no, NOW.  Hadn’t put it together until the very first photo placed into the frame in the design software – it is the image below.  A beautiful red tea rose bent over as if it were someone’s head hanging downwards with water droplets everywhere – a display of shedding tears for an extended period of time.  Immediately, without question, knew what this was all about.

A dear couple, friends who are Missionaries, have lost both of their dogs within two weeks of each other.  Those two dogs, Priscilla and Precious, were a large part of their lives for over 10 years, who have traveled with them everywhere.  Our dear friend responded that she thought it was meant to be a “gentle gesture” of something soft and pretty, but she let me know it struck her quite differently – WHICH CAUSED ME TO SHOUT!!!  Why?  Because the Holy Spirit had prompted me for the EXACT response she sent back to me VERBATIM!  That still, quiet voice, PROVED one more time that if I’d just LISTEN, DO what is asked, WHEN it is asked for, HE will deliver more than we could EVER think would be possible.  Praise The LORD!

Notice: the rose is not damaged, the foliage is not torn or discolored and the droplets of water are not clouded at all, they are pure and clean.  Those photos were taken a week before they would be needed for this Series – God knew when I had NO idea how they would be used.  Red roses happen to be this dear friend’s FAVORITE color of rose.

1024×768 (SVGA/XGA) | 1280×1024 (SXGA) | e-Courage

Each of us of course respond to our daily challenges in different ways, whether in response to a belief that is challenged or a conviction which we are faced with defending because of ridicule and criticism. The world would have us believe that we have to “do” this thing or that to increase our “ability” to face those things that beset us… While those things appear to be “good” on the onset, there is likely a problem area we need to examine in ourselves a little closer to us than we may consider – TRUST.

Trusting is a multifaceted act which is built over time in order to better and more fully understand. It is something that we can demonstrate to others, even without saying a word – giving credence to the cliché “actions speak louder than words.”  Trusting can also be seen in our speaking, how we convey dissatisfaction or even satisfaction on a matter that is controversial or in support of the Word of God.

We also have to be reminded, as in the Scripture verse to follow, it is the LORD that does which is good in His sight:

Scripture

“Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the LORD do that which is good in his sight.”
1 Chronicles 19:13 | King James Version

These seven (7) words give us a “short version” of the Scripture verses used in the Series – they help me realize they are not only instructions, they are promises that He can and will keep for even ME!

  1. Strong
  2. Behave
  3. Fear Not
  4. Arise
  5. Wait
  6. Hope
  7. Help

We can also strengthen others, provide solidarity and resolve by keeping our hope in the Lord and waiting for His answer, realizing it is His to answer to begin with, for His ability is not plagued with our weaknesses.  Rather, He is where our strength originates.  It is interesting that the purest use of the word “courage” would be almost be untraceable if it we were to not look it up in the Old Testament – which is where all seven (7) of the verses originate for this Series.

Surely we as Christians would want to “Be of Good Courage” to all those around us, for He promises to strengthen our own hearts and has given us the Hope of all generations. Speak of Him as “My God”, “My Redeemer”, My Good Courage” noticing that change in us as we seek to serve Him!

Someone needs to be ENCOURAGED by EACH OF US – even just now.  Will you listen for that person who needs to hear those precious words…  Be of Good Courage…

Looking Different

Ever thought about how people view our actions and then apply them to a standard which we established ourselves? In case you just then scratched head and said WHAT? – let me re-phrase that to say… Have you ever not done what you said you would and wondered if someone saw you? Even shorter than that would be this phrase… Hope no one saw me do that!

We as Christians should be seeking to look different by being different in an active process of “Looking Different” as we draw closer to the Lord in our daily walk with Him. In realizing this, we also can apply that “Different” thought to the factor of how we see ourselves and how God knows we are, for He knows us better than we know ourselves.

For others to determine who they think we are serving, they look upon the outward person to see who we are or who we are supposing ourselves to be before them. What they can not see, indeed one of the mysteries of the ages, is the inside – our hearts – whether that be desires, guilt, shame, oppression, depression or any number of other things in which we may be struggling to conquer. Those mentioned things influence how we establish our differences in representation to both God and toward others.

Generally when we see the powerful working of the Holy Spirit in another person’s life, we can rejoice along with them because we are seeing an achievement being made, carefully crafted by the Master, Creator and Sustainer! Do others see that in each one of us? Are we looking to be “different” in the presence of God and man? The verses of Scripture referenced in this Series give us a “top 10 list” of ways how God looks on us differently, which should cause us to look at Him differently. In turn, the world will see us “Looking Different” from them not because we are perfect, but rather because we have determined to be more Christ-like in our daily walk.

It all begins when we realize that we must be determined to seek the LORD’s thoughts and ways!

Look At Things

The thought and idea behind this Series is to build on something that each one of us most likely has heard sometime in our lives, which most of us have probably used much more often than we might think… The immediate phrase that comes to mind is when my Mother would say “William Allen, will you just LOOK AT THIS…” – of course fill in the blank with any number of things which could ALL be applicable ALL at the same time. The most infamous of those words would be “MESS”, usually followed by a “you will not do anything else until you…” – with a here we go again, fill in the blank with any number of things that as a little guy should have already known to do.

The challenge oftentimes is that we are right in the middle of things that we “should have” seen coming, at least that is what I know is my challenge is most often. The main butterfly is an illustration of “seeing things” that are unseen. From any distance, a person who has seen a butterfly before would tell you it is indeed a “butterfly”. On careful inspection though and drawing a little closer, it can be seen very easily that it is not a butterfly at all – but rather vines, petals, blooms and crafted artistic design that has a “striking” resemblance of a “butterfly”.

Can others, or should it be said would others, see from a distance the Lord Jesus being represented in you and I? Do they have the opportunity to see things being done in us and through us which they cannot quite explain, but they “see” it in us just the same? That is what the letter to the Church in Corinth was conveying – that the things we are looking at are things not seen precisely. When the world looks at us from a distance, will they have a desire to get a closer look, realizing that we are human just like they are AND will they “see” that something beyond explanation? Will we show forth our Faith believing that will last for all Eternity? If not, when they draw closer they may see something other than the Lord in us.

First Impressions

How many of us want to make a good “First Impression”??? It is almost a question that needs not be asked, of course we do – part of it is because we don’t want to be embarrassed or look like we don’t know what we are doing. It takes just a quick glance, maybe a second longer one, for someone to size us up when meeting us for the first time. In this short time, those persons are forming an opinion about each of us based on our appearance, body language, demeanor, mannerisms, and how we are dressed. Notice that each of those things is based upon “sight” which is not influenced by any other sense…

While all of those things are superficial in nature, they are carry-outs or the product of what is going on inside each of us. Those “first impressions” are usually the “lasting impressions” that people carry with them over into the response given to you and me, oftentimes without even realizing it. So that would lend some credence to the thought “things will rub off on you” also.

Likely to be the case, as with every new encounter, we are sized up and yet another person’s impression of us is created for everything we do. Those “First Impressions” can be incredibly difficult to reverse or get an opportunity to do-over, making every first impression extremely important. For we need to realize that each of us set the expectation for all the relationships that follow that “First Impression” — so set it wisely!

How we represent God the Father in our lives, by the Relationship we have with the Lord Jesus Christ as guided by the Holy Spirit is an indication of the importance of “First Impressions” in our lives. Beginning with the verse from the main print, we have an opportunity to understand what we need to do and what level of importance they are to the LORD.

More Than Mere Words

Words are a powerful communication tool if used in the correct manner, but they can also be used in a manner unintended – with infliction never considered by the speaker or originator! Sometimes those words are judging yardstick as in “A man is only as good as his word…” Those times what have happened in the past are used to gauge how one considers things he will carry through in the matter at hand.

The initial challenge for this two image Series is the sermon preached by a man whom I dearly love and have much admiration for – much because of the time that I’ve had to see him through his words, actions and handling of God’s Word – the Bible. Preacher Cox has taught me much about being steady, sticking by the stuff and being ready. Much of my learning about prayer has been directly influenced by his example – you could say “his living and speaking words of the Word” have shown through the Promises of God.

So when running across a “wordy” situation in two panels of overflowing “words” it became VERY clear to me that we have a choice – both you and I… We can see the stream of words that are thrown at us from the world at every turn and twist or we can rely on God’s Word (note the singular here) to help us with the navigation of each situation we find ourselves in each moment of the day. YES – I am saying that we can look to God’s Word for direction for our challenges – each and EVERY one of them!

Right now, tomorrow if Jesus tarries and FOREVER – we can count on God’s Holy Word to remain TRUE! Is there something welling up inside of you that wants to shout? The presence of the Holy Spirit speaks to us in a small quiet voice, but the outward showing of it for me is JOYOUS! Maybe that Word hasn’t soaked into every facet of your life yet such that you may understand what Jesus Christ has Saved you from, or it may have been some time since you’ve sought Him that maybe His Touch is slightly foreign to you…

Consider two things along with me – two things that should Encourage us and every person who even comes within earshot of us: first, God sent us Redemption – each of us and second, God gives us Understanding through His Commandments – both of which are shown and promised in God’s Word, the Bible.
