As this Series has been in the developing stages, so many things have come to mind – some of which have been good things and other which have not been such good as I’d like. The statement which came to mind over and over again in the study and preparation time is the following:
The blue words are taken from the Scriptures in Hebrews 10:24, although those weren’t the first words originally started with for this Series. With careful review, the “Be of Good Courage” turned into something different – which settled me on the “consider one another“. That original verse of Scripture is important for us to review, to examine while it may not be first, it is a VERY important to be included – it follows:
“They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother, Be of good courage.”
Isaiah 41:6 | King James Version
The challenge for me is the consideration of distance – everyone helped his neighbor with the admonishing of “Be of good courage” – right where they were. Unfortunately as a society at large, we are removed from the focus on family, friends and neighbors like we were when I was a kid – for they were our society, in rural Kentucky (USA). Now we travel so much to get where we are going and the people we spend time with are often more miles apart than we may realize.
The second thought about the verse in this preliminary image for this Series are the black lettered words “meeting together” & “encouraging” – which is to be applied to all that we are around to form the complete action of:
“consider meeting together, one encouraging another”
We should think about, focus on and take time to pray for those people we are around and what impact our lives are making on them, their family and the relationship they have with Christ. That should ring true whether that is at our homes, at the grocery store, at work, at play, at church… We can have that “consider” factor, which I’m challenged to remember will come about from our Relationship with our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. The more like Him we become, the more consideration we will have for those around us and the time we spend with them.
We will, almost by not even noticing it because of how natural it will come, experience the way we “consider” others as Christ would have us do so by having that right Relationship with Him. Let us look at that verse again:
“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:”
Hebrews 10:24 | King James Version
By our focus on others, we could actually be the catalyst for others showing love and doing things which are good works as unto the Lord! That little verse just became a BIG action item and a promising reward for us doing what we ought to do. Oh what a tender love we can have towards those who may just need to have someone spend a little time with them and who is willing to share with them how the Holy Spirit has worked in us to do something for others for God’s Glory and to Lift Up Christ.
Consider these thoughts from eleven (11) wonderful verses of Scripture:
- Consider One Another
- The Profession of our Faith
- Exhorting One Another
- Be of Good Courage
- Edify One Another
- Serve With My Spirit
- Take Heed
- Exhort One Another
- Have a Good Reward
- Grace Be To You
- Blessed Be God
We have the opportunity and responsibility to Encourage others beyond the world’s definition of self-esteem and believing in one’s self – you and I have not only the Word of God, but access into the very Throne Room of Heaven to the Author of Faith, the One who Paid for us to have it and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to guide us. Consider One Another, by Meeting Together and Encouraging!
