Sweet Beulah Land

ARTWORK_BeulahLand_X7_8x10L_v1_02-HebrewForBeulah-150p

The original “Beulah Land” was written by Edgar Page Stites, which looks/sounds nothing like the version much of the Christian community recognizes as “Sweet Beulah Land”, written by Squire Parsons in 1973. A number of Gospel Groups/Artists have sung the song including: Squire Parsons and The Kingsmen, Carroll Roberson, The Chuck Wagon Gang and the Gaither’s – just to name a few…  My favorite though is Allison Durham Speer – the power and compassion she sings it with more closely matches that of the times Squire Parsons himself sings the song.

The Power of the Words

Sweet Beulah Land is very much lent to being sung A Capella, very slowly, as it only has two verses and is often started with the chorus to begin with.  It is a soul searching and considering song, which could be considered an end of life theme – but truthfully every Christian should consider the words and what they are looking for in Beulah Land themselves.

Sweet Beulah Land

This Christian song contains two verses, chorus and a modified ending, which will be presented here as Squire Parsons often has sung it himself.

Chorus

Beulah Land, I’m longing for you
And some day on thee I’ll stand
There my home shall be eternal
Beulah Land, sweet Beulah Land

Verse One

I’m kind of homesick for the country
To which I’ve never been before
No sad goodbyes will there be spoken
For time won’t matter any more

Chorus

Beulah Land, I’m longing for you
And some day on thee I’ll stand
There my home shall be eternal
Beulah Land, sweet Beulah Land

Verse Two

I’m looking now across the river
Where my faith is gonna end inside
There’s just a few more days to labor
Then I will take my heavenly flight

Ending Chorus

There my home shall be eternal
Beulah Land, sweet Beulah Land
Beulah Land, sweet Beulah Land

This song may look short, but if played/sung like it is written it is nearly 4 minutes long.  Unfortunately the Lyrics and Score CANNOT be printed for this site as it is copyrighted.
